  • Basic Information

Congratulations and welcome to our Obstetric program!  Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, it will be an exciting time filled with much anticipation.  We are pleased that you have chosen us to take care of you during this very special time.  Included in this section are resources to help you during your pregnancy.  We encourage you to print and complete the Obstetrical Medical Questionnaire found in the Health Forms section and to bring it with you to your first appointment.

  • Diet during pregnancy

To help your baby get a head start in life, we encourage you to eat a balanced diet that includes fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals, dairy products and other calcium rich foods, and iron rich foods.  A weight gain of 20-30 pounds is ideal for women with a pre-pregnancy weight in the normal range.

  • Exercise in Pregnancy

Exercise in pregancy is important.  Discuss the routine that will be best for you with your physician.

  • Safe Medications During Pregnancy

In general, try to avoid taking any medications in the first twelve weeks of pregnancy.  If, however, you do need to take something, please follow the safe medications list.  If the condition does not resolve, or you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the office.

  • Postpartum Information

Congratulations of the birth of your baby!  Her are some guidelines for homecare and breastfeeding from our Rock Hill Gyn & Ob physicians.

  • Baby Blues and Postpartum Depression

Taking home a new baby should be a time of overwhelming joy and excitement.  This time can also be extremely stressful for most women as they experience concern for their healthy baby and significant lifestyle changes.  Some anxiety and nervousness is considered normal during this period; however, increasing fear and worry, great sadness, or "not feeling normal" may be a sign of more significant problems.

  • Breastfeeding and Postpartum Breast Care

We hope this information will be helpful in the postpartum care of your breasts, whether you breastfeed or choose not to (or are unable to).
